If you love music, arts, and chill spaces, community centers could be a great fit for you. However, if you’re a non-Hungarian speaker, finding the perfect fit can be rather challenging. That’s why I love Pikszis Kultúrpont, a newly opened community center in Budapest offering English-friendly workshops, events, and much more!
As the name implies, community centers are places where people can gather and participate in communal activities.
It’s not always easy to come by places like this, especially as a foreigner in Budapest, but these spaces can help make living abroad much easier.
Not only do places like Pikszis Kultúrpont give us spaces to work and socialize, but they also provide growth opportunities. Unlike a bar, where it can be harder to talk to strangers, a community center sort of bonds you. People who hang out in these places are likely to share one or two of your interests, making it easier to connect.
You’ll, of course, have to take a few steps, but the center already breaks the ice with its well-curated events. You could make a new friend while admiring the wall art or even find your significant other at their next speed dating event!
But more on that later. Let’s first cover the basics.

Pikszis Kultúrpont
Address: Budapest, Rózsa u. 64, 1064 Hungary
Hours: Mon – Fri:11am – 7 pm, Sat:10am – 4 pm, Sun: Closed
A short detour from the famous Andrassy Avenue, Pikszis Kultúrpont is a cultural space focusing on visual culture and music. The center is located in a mostly residential part of the city center, and its bright white color and glass facade stand out from the surrounding buildings, demanding the attention of anybody passing by.
Stepping into the center, you’re welcomed in a spacious white room with a colorful staircase to the left and a peak into Soul Cure Records. But that’s not all! The community center also features a drawing school, a vintage fashion store called Crazee, and lots of exhibition space.
1. Pikszis Kultúrpont | Cafe
If minimalism is your cup of tea, you’ll fall head over heels for Pikszis Kultúrpont’s interior design. The café is a great combination of less is more and less is a bore because the beautiful white canvas sets the perfect background for the wall art. My favorite feature is the pink café counter and bright yellow staircase.
Don’t forget to take at the tote bags on sale, as you make your way up the stairs.
My second favorite feature is the large window, which brings in an abundance of natural sunlight and makes the space feel more spacious.
The community center’s café is a wonderful place to grab a coffee or beer and enjoy a chat with a friend. Alternatively, it’s also laptop-friendly and great for finishing off some work or studying.
You may hear some music in the background, and if you’re curious about the sweet tunes, just pop into the vinyl store next door.

2. Soul Cure Records
Visit the record store to explore jazz, soul, and hip-hop sounds. You can browse through several collections from some of your favorite artists and maybe even discover some new ones.
The community space is run by Akos and Zsófia, a young couple. Akos has been collecting records for years, and he also happens to be a DJ and one of the leaders of the Budabeats label.
One thing is for sure: he knows music, and their vinyl store has lots of it.

3. Pikszis Analog Circle
Another gem inside Pikszis Kultúrpont is their lovely drawing school, where you can learn a thing or two about the arts.
If you’re wondering what’s up the lovely staircases that lead to the large gallery upstairs, go up for a peak.
This part of the cultural center often hosts classes that are run by contemporary visual artists. The best part is that these events are very accessible, and you can participate in different classes regardless of your drawing levels.
What’s more is that they offer other types of events like talks, workshops, and even speed dating events.
So whether you’re coming here to ignite new and old passions, there’s something perfect for you.
Sign up for these events on Pikszis Kultúrpont’s social media so you don’t miss a thing!
