If you’re like me, you didn’t know about Malmö until just a few months ago. At the time, I didn’t have any other reason to visit except for the fact that it would be cheaper to visit Copenhagen that way.

I’m not sure if you’re aware of this but the two cities are only 40 minutes away from each other. In fact, in some parts of Malmö, you can spot Denmark! So of course it seemed like a great idea to visit Copenhagen and Malmö at the same time.
So many people visit Malmö as a day trip from Copenhagen due to their proximity but after visiting Malmö, I can definitely say that the city is deserving of a couple of days and not just a few hours.
Wondering if Malmö is worth it? Here’s a list of reasons to visit Malmö!
Why should I visit Malmö?
1. An Architectural Wonderland
Malmö is like an open-air architectural gallery. Honestly! Turning Torso, with its avant-garde design, sets the tone. Whether you’re into modern skyscrapers or historic gems, you’ll be captivated by the city’s diverse architecture.
As I’m obsessed with architecture, this is one of the reasons I wanted to visit Malmö. And I’ll have to say, I wasn’t disappointed. Its architecture is the perfect blend of traditional and new, with brick, wood, and glass beautifully plastered around the city.

The city’s cultural scene is vibrant and ever-evolving. Moderna Museet Malmö and Malmö Konsthall offer artistic inspiration, while the Form/Design Center showcases Nordic design excellence. There’s always something creative brewing in Malmö.

Scandinavian cities are famed for their close ties to nature and Malmö isn’t any different. These parks offer the perfect setting for picnics, leisurely walks, and unwinding with friends.

Malmö, compared to some other Scandinavian cities, can be budget-friendly. While it’s not dirt cheap, it won’t break the bank either, especially if you plan wisely. If you’re visiting Malmö and Copenhagen on one trip, you’ll find that the former city is much cheaper to visit. There are also many locals who work in Copenhagen but live or shop in Malmö for this same reason.

Malmö is a walker’s paradise. Most of the city’s attractions are within walking distance of each other. Plus, it’s super bike-friendly, with several bike lanes, adding one more reason to visit Malmö.
